CALGARY, May 23 /CNW/ - AeroMechanical Services Ltd. ("AMA") is pleased
to announce the appointment to the board of directors of Mr. J.W (Jack) Olcott
and Mr. Paul Takalo to replace Mr. Tim Morgan of Alberta and Ms. Christine
Larkin of Ontario. Ms. Larkin is retiring from the Board after being involved
with Aeromechanical since the inception of the Company. Mr. Morgan is
resigning from the Board due to potential conflicts of interest. We wish to
thank Ms. Larkin and Mr. Morgan for their time efforts and support for the
last 4 years as board members for AMA. Both Ms. Larkin and Mr. Morgan added a
lot of talent and depth to our board and want to thank them both for the
efforts they put into the growth of AMA.
Mr. Olcott is educated as an aeronautical engineer with BSE and MSE
degrees from Princeton University and an MBA from Rutgers University as well
as a certificate in leadership training from Harvard's School of Government.
He began his career in Business Aviation and was involved with creating a
flight research laboratory at the Indian Institute of Technology/Kanpur. He
also obtained and managed flight mechanics contracts issued by NASA and
private industry. In the early 1970's Jack Olcott, while remaining active as
an advisor to NASA and as a flight instructors, began a career in aviation
journalism where he achieved the position of Editor and publisher of Business
& Commercial Aviation magazine and a Vice President within McGraw-Hill's
Aviation Week Group. In 1992 Mr. Olcott joined the National Business Aviation
Association as President until 2003. He is presently President of General
Aviation Company.
Mr. Takalo is a Chartered Accountant who was employed with Grant Thornton
from 1985 to 2005 with the last 5 years as Audit Partner. He was responsible
for the Audit of AMA during that period and is very familiar with the
business. From July 2005 to November 2005 Mr. Takalo provided consulting
services. From November 2005 he has held the position of Vice-President,
Finance with Standen's Limited.
The Company is optimistic that it will ship 2 Boeing 767 kits in June and
5 additional kits in July to China in support the Olympic Torch Relay through
China. AMA is optimistic that this will facilitate the future approval of all
shipments to China in line with the schedules outlined by Aircraft Data
Communication Company in the March 6, 2008 Press Release.
